Fine blanking dies
Thanks to dies designed and created with the appropriate construction
criteria, together with presses equipped with multiple hydraulic
forces, and the use of specific materials and lubricants, GRB manufactures
components featuring extremely precise dimensions and geometries.

|

In this type of technology, the dies
play a fundamental role because they are the actual tool that transforms
a metallic strip into a blanked, coined, crimped component as required.
Below are examples of a few of the possible designs of modern dies
used for progressive fine blanking, featuring one or more impressions. |

 |
Dies for traditional blanking
Components permitting, what better and more economic solution than
a traditional blanking die! Nowadays, thanks to the huge advances
in automation technology and the application of powerful gas springs,
auxiliary hydraulic and pneumatic forces, together with threading,
drilling and bending units, the possibilities offered by this type
of equipment is practically endless. |
It is just as possible to create
simple and economic dies as it is to create extremely complex automated
dies featuring great economy, high production output and requiring
fast, minimal maintenance. |
 |
 |
Transfer blanking dies
Transfer blanking dies achieve what fine and traditional blanking
dies cannot (not even if you use both together); from a manufacturing
point of view, transfer blanking technology has no rivals.
Thanks to independent blanking, crimping, coining, etc. units, it
is possible to develop the component step-by-step, totally independent
of the strip, allowing the creation of deep drawings, complex crimpings
or important cold forging with maximum economy in terms of raw material.
|
By applying this equipment to presses
featuring special kinematic motion designed to slow down the speed
of the ram during the work stroke, it is even possible to achieve
surface finishes similar to fine blanked surfaces.
Component complexity and production volumes permitting, for now this
technology is unmatched. |

Engineering department
Because dies are a fundamental part of a good blanking process,
GRB not only relies on over 50 years' experience, but also modern
cad/cam systems, traditional and CNC machines, as well as a prototype,
manufacturing and setup department for the development of equipment
from the initial concept to the final test.
|
In particular, considering growing
requirements in terms of precision and production speed, we have
recently adopted a series of machines specifically for finishing
active die parts, including:
- N. 1 „Fanuc“ wire EDM machine
- N. 1 „Ona“ die sinker EDM machine
- N. 1 “Catmur” jig grinding machine (N.B. optional)

Conventional and transfer presses from 30 tons to 600 tons
Machining lines
Sandind machine
Tapping machines
Special drilling machines
Chamfering machines
Trimming machines
The company is equipped with the latest CAD/CAM systems
for die designs; the tooling shop has machines for the relative
toolings construction and maintenance procedures. |
Auxiliary services:
Deburring, sanding and grinding are operations
normally carried out inside the factory.
For heat and surface treatments, the company
uses qualified outside suppliers.
